From the 40th reunion:

Married 1969, Mother of 3 in the years 1971, 1976, 1978.  Stay at home mom, loving my family and trying to nurture them, doing it my way, taking small steps adopting culture through hollow and deceptive philosophy.  Developing opinions forgetting convictions, choosing not to wash my thinking by the Word of God.  Married to the same man 36 years, we cannot take all the credit for that, as I look back, it can only be explained as the Mighty Hand of God.
Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, thyroid problems and depression as the “empty nest” crept forward, life looked bleak (lost my purpose). God is our Provider, He is the Great Physician.  So, with a humble heart, knowing that I chose to do wrong and failed to do good, I cried out to Jesus who is the promised Christ, the Son of God, the Son of Man, Messiah, Y’shua, the Holy One of Israel, The Anointed One, the Redeemer, Savior (no one needs the Savior until they know they need the Savior) – He has so many names, My Strong Tower, the Kinsman Redeemer, Lamb of God, the Bread of Life, the Good Shepherd, the great I AM, the Living God, so the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world healed me.   He is all of that and so much more.
Now I live in peace amidst the chaos by the grace of the Most High God.  I no longer take medication for depression or arthritis.  I made the choice to believe (Abraham was saved by faith long before the law came in), and in faith I traded depression, pain and fear, for the peace and the joy of the Lord.  I am now a child of Abraham through faith.  You see, by faith, Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.  The Word of the Lord is flawless, “through Abraham’s offspring all nations of the earth will be blessed” and that included me.
Life is meant to be cherished, a free gift is offered to each of us and true love is a sacrifice.  By His cross I am healed.   What a difference relationship makes, enjoying freedoms I never knew.  No longer under the law, I live protected by the strong arm of the Lord, under His grace and tender mercies.  I now look forward to the most exciting adventure of all.  What is to come.
The prophet Jeremiah said, “If you seek me, you will find me, when you seek me with all of your heart.”  Jeremiah also said, “Call to me and I will answer and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”  How can we honor the prophets of the Bible and not believe what they said?  He is The Way, the Truth and the Life.  Y’shua said, “I came to save the lost sheep of Israel .”  “The kingdom of God is near, the kingdom of God is at hand.” God said, man said, who do you choose to believe?

Retired-was Dental Hygienist Married 2016-05-12 14:57:29
In 1968, after two years of college and partying, I flunked out and was drafted. I served in the infantry in Vietnam, and, at times was involved in the heaviest combat of the Vietnam War. Rather miraculously, I survived, and then spent almost 2 years living in Honolulu, Hawaii. Then I was discharged and returned to college at the University of Maryland, where I met my future wife of 43 years. After our marriage, We moved to Gainesville, Florida, home of the University of Florida, a very large State College. We have lived here ever since 1973, and we love our life here. We enjoy a simple, natural, healthy, prosperous, active life with lots of friends and activities. My wife was a social worker and a teacher for many years. I did airconditioning repair work and then was a dental hygienist for amost 40 years. We are into yoga, political involvement, cleanups, volunteering, camping and hiking, veggie food, family relationships. We both feel quite lucky to have the life we do.
Judy and I have both had rather miraculous healings from health issures. Our good health and life are rather amazing.
I will not be coming to the 50 year reunion. I wish you all the very best lives. And, thank you for working so hard to make this event happen. I almost never return to the Washington, DC area and never return to Bethesda. It sure has grown.

retired Married 2016-08-26 15:16:28

After college at UNC where I double majored in math & philosophy, I got an MA in philosophy from U. Chicago, decided not to complete the PhD, came back to the DC area and went to work for the MITRE Corp. in McLean, VA, a non-profit engineering research firm created by Congress and headquartered outside Boston. I found this a nice fit due to my math background plus philosophy which enabled me to write critically. I worked on both classified and unclassified aviation research. After 8 years at MITRE, I worked at Titan Systems in Tysons Corner and TRW in Fairfax. Then MITRE said it wanted me back, so I returned and stayed until I retired in 2013 as lead engineer and over 80 published technical papers. My work was mostly in 3 areas: aviation weather systems, airspace analysis, and modeling of air traffic controller operations. While at MITRE, I obtained an MS in operations research from American U, tutored dozens of students in math, and was an adjunct professor at Northern Virginia Community College teaching evening math courses. I met my wife, Trish, at Grevey's restaurant in Fairfax. She retired in 2011 after 40 years in the medical field, her last position being assistant director of INOVA Blood Donor Services. On our first date, she said she wanted to retire to Beaufort, SC. I had never heard of it, but she got her wish. We love it here and are both involved with volunteer work. No kids, just our PBGV pooch, Bebe. Sorry I couldn't make our 50th reunion, but my nephew got married the same day in Westminster, MD. My best to everyone.
