After graduating from WJ, I went on to MJC, then U of MD, & the U of MD College, for Business and Management, all the while working in Safeway stores to pay for my college. I retired having a great 47-year career with Safeway, first 13 years in the stores; the rest in construction management, and managed building 20 new stores, 10 store expansions, and 100s of remodels. I was lucky enough to meet Jan and we continue to share our lives together, now both retired visiting with our ever growing family, friends, and visiting everyone as often as possible. We love our homes and traveling together with family and friends, seeing new places. |

After graduating from Walter Johnson I attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA where I met and married my husband Tom a Congregationalist UCC minister and the son of a minister. We went off to Andover Newton Theological School in Newton MA after graduation from college with our first born daughter. Two more children followed - a daughter and a son. We enjoyed congregational ministries in churches in Massachusetts for the next several years. During this time I went back to Andover Newton to pursue a Master of Divinity graduating in 1991. My husband and I separated and divorced during this period. I was called to minister to the sick at Georgetown University Hospital in 1999 and have been happily working there since. My ministry focuses on spiritual and emotional care of children and their families during their time at the hospital. I am a member of Westmoreland Congregational United Church of Christ in Bethesda Maryland where I was ordained.

Free Lance Art Director

To my surprise I tried to retire after 40 years as a free lance art director in the entertainment business but I found that I missed the day to day collaboration of work and now I am back taking small projects to stay busy. After a BFA from Carnegie - Mellon University and a MFA from Yale School of Drama and 3 years in the US Army, I went to work in New York City working in the professional theater and free lancing for different design projects. I had a chance to assist on a number of Broadway shows and set design plays for the regional theater. I assisted on the Chinese Court Garden at the Metropolitan Museum. By chance I landed a job in the motion picture business in 1979 and have worked 35 years in that field. I have had the luck to work in the art departments for 12 nominated films and have been a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures since 1993. Much of my life has been spent traveling for my work and have worked on location as Art Director in many states all over America and in a number of foreign countries. I have had to pleasure to work with many talented directors and production designers I enjoy what I do. I have lived in New York City since graduation and delight in the offerings of living there. I took up genealogy after the death of my parents and find it fascinating to research all the families that make up my tree. Its been very interesting to discover what your roots are - several very surprising. The last film project I worked on comes out September 2015 called “The Intern” starring Anne Hathaway and Robert DeNiro. I have been scouting for a English film, set in New York in the 1920s. My best wishes to everyone. Life has been good and interesting.
