We have lived in Chesapeake, VA, since 1987, raising our kids here and seeing them grow up, get married, and have kids of their own. Life has been good and still is. I am very blessed with a wonderful husband, 2 great kids and spouses, 7 fantastic grandkids ;-), marvelous friends (especially 2 from WJ who I get together with at least three times a year), and believing family and friends who are always there for us when we have needed support, love and help – thru 2 miscarriages, the loss of parents and a grandchild, 3 bouts of cancer, and other life experiences. God is always good, and He has allowed me the privilege to be used as a blessing to my family, friends, and others in my life. |

After WJ, I worked my way as a truck driver thru the U of MD graduating in 1971 with a degree in business. Low draft lottery number, but bad knee resulted in failed draft physical. Married the love of my life, Patricia Suriano, who I met my last year at Maryland. Started my white collar career in advertising. Reasonably successful and went back to Maryland to work on a Masters in media management. Became the media representative for the Washington Post as the new technologies were emerging and enjoyed a few years in developing relationships and new products. Pat and I have 2 daughters who followed her example and became outstanding educators on the high school level in Anne Arundel County. One grandchild at this point. In early 1990s, I started a new path working for Blue Cross and Shield in the development and management of non-insurance products. By 1995, I started my own company consulting and working with a venture capital group managing turnarounds. About 2007, we bought out the companies and outsourced them to provide a retirement income stream without day to day involvement. The company is Travel Assistance International, providing international emergency assistance and travel insurance products worldwide. Now the rest of the story: We live in Anne Arundel County , currently on the Severn River. We’ve traveled to 49 of the 50 states, South America, and Europe. Enjoy our boat on the Severn, and are in the process of updating a 1977 GMC RV (the urban assault vehicle from Stripes). Mostly for tailgating, but we hope to make a few road trips. We spend a couple of weeks each winter at our place in Cabo San Lucas and in the American Southwest. Greatest interest trips so far: Machu Picchu, sailing a friend’s boat in the Mediterranean, a week of white water rafting thru Grand Canyon, Rome, Paris, St Petersburg, US National Parks. I have coached and refereed lacrosse and field hockey on high school and college levels, been active in our community. We tailgate regularly at U of MD football (it’s not about the game), and occasionally at Navy. Classmates invited. |
