Attended Montgomery College, then transferred to the U of MD. A marriage introduced me to Marine Corps officer base living during which time I worked for Navy Relief at Camp Lejeune and attended college off base. Upon divorce, I returned to Bethesda and worked for Booz ∙ Allen Applied Research and then completed classes at The Washington School for Secretaries in DC. I was offered a position within Ron Ziegler’s Press Office, which I accepted. For 2 years, I worked in the Press Office, traveled with the White House Press Corps, worked in Key Biscayne, Florida, and San Clemente/ Laguna Beach, California, and campaigned with President Nixon for his second term run. I resigned my position upon engagement for marriage to a Los Angeles industrial designer. The marriage did not take place and I headed to Gainesville, FL to attend the U of Florida’s School of Journalism and Communications. As a student, I worked for the radio station WRUF as an announcer and for the TV station WUFT in marketing and sales while becoming the University’s first female student to direct and host a bi-weekly community affairs TV show. Upon graduation from UF, I married a fellow Gator Engineering graduate and became an instant mom to his 2 young children. He and I, along with one of a former business colleague, incorporated the engineering firm of Davis and Allen Engineering with offices in Gainesville, FL, Houston, TX, and Peachtree City, GA. During this time, I returned to the U of Florida to get a second degree in Architecture and Interior Design. Before completing my degree, my husband and I welcomed the birth of our son. Afterward, we moved to Boca Raton, FL, where I worked in commercial real estate lending, acquisition, and development, involved in the development and building of such residential communities as Boca Pointe and Saint Andrews, along with shopping centers, office buildings, condos, and apartment buildings throughout south Florida. From Boca, we moved to Winston Salem, NC, and then to Ridgewood, NJ. When my husband passed in 1996, I entered a career in educational publishing in English as a Second Language. With this career, I’ve had the opportunity to work for the major global educational publishers. I also completed my MBA. Currently, I work for National Geographic Learning. My study and love of architecture and interior design enabled me to help design and build the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Midland Park, NJ. I am most grateful for family and friends and to have been able to attend our 50th high school class reunion.
