Hi WJ Class of 1966:                                                                                         As some of you know I was very shy in high school.  I came out of my "shell" and had a great time at the University of Maryland, graduating in 1970 in Elementary Education. I met my husband, Dennis, at Maryland and we were married in 1970.  We continue to support our Alma Mater in many ways.  We have lived in Gaithersburg, MD for 40+ years; first in Montgomery Village for 20 years and since then in a home on 2 1/2 acres in a development called Avalon Farms off of Woodfield Rd.

We had 2 wonderful sons, Michael and David.  Tragically, Michael passed away in 2011.  We are so blessed to have our other son, David, his lovely wife, Amy, and their 3 adorable sons, (ages 9, 6 and 3).   They live in MA.

I have always loved to bake.  In 2004 I won the Grand Prize in a National Contest sponsored by Kraft Foods and Gourmet Magazine.  The prize was $50,000 and a trip to New York with my family to have a cooking lesson and private lunch with Sara Moulton, the Executive Chef of Gourmet Magazine.

In 2008 I was thrilled to win the Grand Prize at the 43rd Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest.  My awards for my "Double-Delight Peanut Butter Cookie" recipe were:  a special award of $5,000; $10,000 in GE kitchen appliances; and $1,000,000.  I became somewhat of a celebrity as I was on the Today Show with Lestor Holt, appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and guest Jack Black, and I was skyped from my kitchen on the Oprah Show.  My "15 minutes of fame" has stretched to 8 years as I am still recognized for my win.

I wish the WJ Class of 1966 (where does the time go?!!) all the very best wishes for continued good health, wealth and happiness.

In the fall of 1966, I went to West Virginia Wesleyan College. It is in the middle of West Virginia and totally different from Bethesda, MD. High school was great, but college was awesome! A month after graduation, I married my college sweetheart. This June Randy and I will have been married 46 years. We bought our first house in Durham, PA. The house was built in the early 1800’s and was one of the workers houses for the Durham Iron Works. The house needed a lot of work. We spent several years restoring the house. Our next home was another old house in Bucks County. This house is even older. It’s an old stone farmhouse and dates to 1799, but was completely renovated. I was lucky enough to stay home while our kids were young. When our youngest was about 12, I started working with special education students. I loved helping kids learn. In my 26 years working with elementary age students, hopefully I made a difference in their lives. Randy and I have two children. Our son went to Catawba College in NC. He fell in love with NC and moved to Charlotte after graduation. He is a technical engineer with Microsoft. Our daughter went to Washington and Jefferson College. Another W&J! She then went to Wake Forest Law School. She is an attorney for Merck Pharmaceutical. She is married and lives in Bucks County near us. Randy and I have been retired for almost two years. We love being retired! We are ballroom dancers and go to dances 3 to 4 times a month. We are busy working on our old house and barn. Nice days we enjoy biking, kayaking, or walking. And we also travel around the east coast. Can’t believe it has been 50 years. It’s been a fast ride, but most of all it has been a great trip!

Have a great time at the reunion.  I am sorry I will not attend.

We are all 10 years older since I last wrote and update.
I am grateful for the fine quality secondary eduation I received at Walter Johnson.

I feel very grateful to have a wonderful wife of 20 years--still very much in love.  Grateful to have an amazing daughter finding her way into adulthood (just turned 20).

Grateful to look forward to work.  I have left full time Emergency Medicine and am now working 3 days a week in an Urgent Care clinic.  I miss my colleagues in Emergency, but I do not miss the stress, intensity, and just plain craziness of the ER.
I still get so much pleasure from helping people with their health/life issues.  I get to do some good in the world and they even pay me--pretty cool!

I am grateful for good health.  I live in a beautiful part of the world.  I enjoy tennis, biking, hiking, dog walking, the Oregon coast, travel, fine art, Portland Trailblazer basketball, Seattle Seahawk football, eating good food, tasting Oregon pinot noirs, theater, and all sorts music from jazz to our 60's music to the Oregon Symphony.
