Wayne Simpson Sr., formerly of Lake Ariel, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 29, 2015, at the age of 67 after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves his wife of 45 years, Alice Swingle Simpson; four sons and wives, Wayne and Jodi, Robert and Shara, Thomas and Marie and Todd and Danielle; brother, David and wife, Qua; sister, Marilyn and husband, William Bradley; and 13 grandchildren, Brooke, Emily, Mia, Derek, Logan, Mason, Aiden, Drew, Allie, Allen, Jaxon, Colton and Weston; as well as nieces and nephews.

Born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Kensington Md., the son of the late Ned and Verona (Locklin) Simpson and stepmother, Virginia Simpson, he moved to Pennsylvania in 1970, where he made homes in Lakeville, Lake Ariel and Saylorsburg. Wayne joined the Navy's nuclear submarine division in 1966, serving four years active duty during the Vietnam War, followed by 23 years reserve duty at Roanoke, Groton and Philadelphia naval bases. Wayne was a member of the Crossroad Assembly of God Church, Elmhurst, and had been attending the Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsvile, near their new home in Saylorsburg.

Wayne enjoyed being with family, fishing, helping everyone, telling tales, mowing his lawn, but most of all spending his life with his wife. He will be missed by many.

Please join us in saying goodbye at Crossroads Assembly, Routes 590 and 435, Elmhurst, Pa. Family and friends may call Wednesday, 4 to 7 p.m., and also Thursday morning from 10 to 10:45, with a celebration of life service immediately following at 11. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Park with military honors.
