Gordon of Greenville, SC, passed away at the age 75 on August 25, 2023, after a long battle with prostate cancer, He was a resident of The Woodlands at Furman and is survived by the love of his life, wife Patriciann also of The Woodlands, and by a nephew, William Gordon, of Baltimore. He is pre-deceased, by his parents, Claude and Jessie Gordon, and Brother Robert.
Larry was born on Christmas day, 1947, in Schenectary, NY, moved to Dallas when he was 6 months, and to Tulsa when he was 2. He lived throughout the 50s in Tulsa, where his favorite activities were bicycle racing with his buddies, baseball, and bareback horse riding. He was voted Little League player of the year and appeared on The Knot Hole Gang, a local television show. He picked up golf after watching Sam Snead swing a golf club on television.
In 1960 his parents moved to Bethesda, MD, and Larry begged his fathe to join a local golf club. They joined Bethesda Country Club, which was a hub of junior golf in the D.C. area. One of Larry's initial golf instructors was Deane Beman, who, at the time, was the U.S. Amateur champion. At age 14 Larry qualified for the first time for the Bethesda CC junior golf championship
