Classmates
The most important part of this effort is to reconnect with friends in the great class of 1966. As Baby Boomers, think about what we’ve experienced, from learning cursive with cartridge pens to posting Instagram images with our smart phones; from learning about JFK’s assassination during the school day to watching the Twin Towers fall on 9/11; and for many of us, going from worrying about prom dates to welcoming grandchildren into our lives. It’s an amazing time to be living! Let’s celebrate and share.

After graduation - headed off to Hiram College, then married Herman, gave birth to Jennifer and Kevin -- came numerous relocations across the country due to corporate moves up the ladder for Herman. Always interesting, locating a home in a good school district, settling the family in, locating a job and then doing it all over again...and again... Turns out I liked it enough to do it several times by choice. Much to my surprise we have settled in Annapolis, MD that they like to visit we do not plan to relocate again. I stay busy volunteering, reading, golfing, boating, and traveling. Basically living the good life and wish the same for everyone else. See you at the 75th! |

For the last ten years since retirement, it is hard to document my time as I have been following my heart. Although my husband is virtually working two jobs, he has a home office; so I basically work for Kloke Business Solutions. We both love being at home with our three Siberian Huskies. We sell Legal Shield Insurance. I will bring business cards to the reunion or call us at (804) 272-5875. At one time we were keeping foster children from the United Methodist Family Services (UMFS) with locations in Richmond, Fredericksburg, Tidewater, Northern Virginia, and South Central 1-855-ASK-UMFS (855-275-8637); www.umfs.org. I am now on the Auxiliary Committee at UMFS. This committee consists of members of local United Methodist churches. We work directly with the high risk children from the campus cottages and the Charter House School, giving them birthday parties, providing an annual tea (both boys and girls), square dance; and to support our expenses we have a silent auction. The initiative of our church, Bon Air United Methodist Church (BAUMC) in supporting homeless high school students is being expanded throughout Richmond: changetheworldrva.org and http:www.bonairumc.org We are preparing for my husband's retirement. We remodeled six rental homes, all in the same block near McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond. We have established a working relationship with our tenants and provide quality housing. I have joy in my heart, a pep in my step, and am looking forward to the reunion. Those of you who were in home arts, senior year may remember our Fashion Show. Classmate Arlene Scott, Scotty, walked my little sisters down the runway in navy blue dotted Swiss dresses that I had made in my favorite class. Lately, I have been remembering fun times at Walter Johnson. |

I graduated from the U. of MD in 1970 with a double major in Sociology and Art. I got my Master’s degree in Education, also from U of MD. I married Barry Korb in June of 1970. Barry is also an alumni of WJ, graduated in 1963. We have two daughters, Susan and Deborah and five beautiful grandchildren (ranging in age... 11, 9, 7, 4, and 3... the oldest are girls and the 2 youngest are boys). Barry and I just celebrated our 46th Anniversary. We live in Potomac, MD and our children live in NY. We spend a lot of time travelling to NY! Barry and I have enjoyed travelling to Europe, to Israel, to China, to Australia and to New Zealand. We have also enjoyed travelling across country. I am an art teacher at a private pre-school/Kindergarten in Potomac, MD. Barry is retired from the US government (EPA) and now enjoys being a financial planner. I hope that there is another WJ Reunion (maybe 55th?). I have such great memories of my 4 years at WJ. It was considered one of the best high schools in the US. I made lasting friendships there and remain in close touch with five of my classmates. I fondly remember the “cow” on the chimney. I fondly remember going outside in art class to draw “the cows” on the farm next store. (now office complexes) I fondly remember the clubs I was in and the football games and the school dances. My husband and I enjoyed seeing Jonathan Hadary as the “Papa” in Fiddler on the Roof at Arena Stage this year! I remember the amazing productions that our class put on. When my daughters were growing up we often took them to the shows at area high schools, including WJ. Many years ago when my older daughter was about 10 we went to a show at WJ. I recognized the janitor from when I was at WJ and went over to him to say hello. He said he didn’t remember me, but that I should think of it as a compliment because he “only remembered the bad kids!” Ha! Ha! |

I spent 4 years in the Navy, got married, had children. Eventually finished my degree at U of MD and tried a number of careers before my current one -- running the family business, Country Squire Cleaners in Potomac (the official dry cleaners of the WJ 50th reunion). But my obsession over all these years has been art. With my current wife Linda, we run Light Street Gallery and have one of the largest contemporary art collections on the East Coast. Together we have 6 children and 9 grands (1 at WJ). |

After receiving my B.S. in biology at Muhlenberg College in Allentown PA, I went to Purdue University for a PhD in biology. There I met my future (and since then ex-) husband from Switzerland. We moved to Geneva, then Schaffhausen (north of Zurich). I then moved close to Zurich where I entered the pharma world (J&J pharmaceutical group) and later helped form a start-up pharmaceutical consultancy / clinical research organization, which later had affiliates in Europe, Israel and India. This involved a lot of travelling – for visiting clients, attending conferences and helping out in projects. Whenever a short vacation was possible I took bicycle trips through Europe and then to parts of Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. The business in clinical research was a very intense (hardly any free time) but a rewarding time. After more than 20 years we sold the company and I am now devoting my time to training my young dog (he thinks he’s training me) and travelling with him through Europe in my camping bus. Before retirement I thought retirement would allow me to have a lot more time to read and spend time improving my photography, but time goes so fast! I recently sold my house (4 flights of stairs) and am now enjoying my new condo (one floor with elevator) overlooking the lake of Zurich and with a view of the Alps. This makes it easier to get away and is more practical for the years to come. After spending about 2/3 of my life in Switzerland now the life in the US is very far away. Unfortunately I’m not good at keeping in touch with people, but I enjoyed reading your bios and seeing your pictures. I’m sorry I cannot make the reunion! Have fun! |

From the 40th reunion: I attended Marietta College in Ohio, but dropped out before graduating in order to follow my dream and travel the world. I lived in Europe and North Africa for two years, then worked for a travel wholesaler in Washington D.C. and Chicago for eleven years after that. I married in 1980 and we settled in Illinois. I have two children, Amanda born in ’83 and Travis born in ’86. While the children were growing up I did bookkeeping work, and I had a variety of part-time jobs. I have many fond memories of each of them, but not much put aside for retirement. I currently work, and will continue to do so for at least the next 10 years, in DeKalb, IL, for the Daily Chronicle. My daughter, Amanda, is a cellist and Jr. High School orchestra director in DeKalb. My son, Travis, who is also very musically talented, lives in Chicago, goes to school and works part-time.
