Classmates
The most important part of this effort is to reconnect with friends in the great class of 1966. As Baby Boomers, think about what we’ve experienced, from learning cursive with cartridge pens to posting Instagram images with our smart phones; from learning about JFK’s assassination during the school day to watching the Twin Towers fall on 9/11; and for many of us, going from worrying about prom dates to welcoming grandchildren into our lives. It’s an amazing time to be living! Let’s celebrate and share.

Comment: After working in the Automotive field for 40 years,in Maryland, I came home one day and told my wife I,m done, I've had it, I am retiring. I told her to sell the house and pick somewhere to move to. She picked Myrtle Beach, South Carolina(her widowed father lives there). We bought a house near the beach and have been here for 5 years. My wife still works(she is only 62). As for me I'm enjoying retirement. I play golf 3 times a week year round, play softball 5 days a week, 2 nights/3 mornings, ride my motorcycle and sit on the beach and watch the girls go by. Life couldn't be better. |

Comment: My husband, Howard, and I met during our first year at the U of Chicago, and we got married after our first year of grad school at the U of Minnesota. After a couple of preliminary positions, I spent 35 years as a professor of developmental and school psychology at Northern Illinois University. I am now retired but continue to do some research on young children's language development. Howard retired as a math professor ar U of IL-Chicago and is now a long-term Visiting Prof in math at the U of Chicago. We have 2 grown children. Susannah lives in NYC, and Jonathan and his wife and 2 adorable kids live in Chicago, where we now live. Family, friends, cultural activities in Chicago, and as much travel as we can fit in keep us busy and happy. Sorry I can't make it to the reunion, but it has been fun to read so many bios. I remember my time on the yearbook staff and friends from 50 years ago. I wish you all the best! |

Comment:
Life has been good. I have been married to Sheila for over 48 years; we have a son and a daughter; five grandchildren. Our oldest grandson, Corey, is twenty and a junior at Wake Forest (makes me realize I am on the back nine!). I worked hard and was blessed with good luck, enjoying a successful business career. after graduating from UVa, I started my career in public accounting before joining Marriott in the late seventies, initially serving in a number of financial roles. Since the early nineties, I have been fortunate to lead several businesses in the travel and hospitality industries. At this point, I suppose that I am technically retired but serve on a number of corporate boards. About five years ago, we established our principal residence in northern New Hampshire--think few restaurants and no traffic! I am often asked why in the world we moved to such a remote location. My answer usually is that for me walking in the woods trumps good restaurants, at least most of the time. |
