Classmates
The most important part of this effort is to reconnect with friends in the great class of 1966. As Baby Boomers, think about what we’ve experienced, from learning cursive with cartridge pens to posting Instagram images with our smart phones; from learning about JFK’s assassination during the school day to watching the Twin Towers fall on 9/11; and for many of us, going from worrying about prom dates to welcoming grandchildren into our lives. It’s an amazing time to be living! Let’s celebrate and share.

After college and grad school (School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins), I joined the Foreign Agricultural Service for what turned out to be a 31-year career advancing US ag exports, largely through trade policy work and some overseas service (Bonn, Germany)...and some import controls. If you enjoyed imported cheese, my office would have had a hand in that. It was at FAS that I also met my husband, Kerry Reynolds. We were married in 1984 and have two children, now both married to lovely people and one grandson, born in 2015. We are both retired and can therefore enjoy our grandson and periodic travel, both near and far. We go south for spring training every few years in March and enjoy travel to the Shakespeare and Shaw festivals in Canada. Since our son's wife is of Chinese origin, we have traveled there as well as to old and new favorites in Europe. We live near Frederick, MD and look out at a cattle farm, though development will change that over the next 5-10 years. When we moved here the community was still under construction, so we were involved in welcoming newcomers and in our homeowner's association. Now we can enjoy all Frederick has to offer. Best to all of my classmates! |

From the 40th reunion: I have to agree with everyone that it has been interesting reading all the history for the past few days. Unfortunately I will not be able to make the reunion but I hope it's a blast for those who go. I doubt many would remember me anyway. I spent only my senior year at WJ, but I have been very, very lucky in the years since. I graduated from Wabash College in 1970 and a year later joined United Press International in Washington. That was my first job in journalism and I never looked back. I worked for UPI for 11 years, culminating as White House correspondent. I spent two years more covering the Reagan administration for CNN and then hooked up with ABC News, where I have worked for the past 22 years. I have been stationed in Washington, London, Tel Aviv, Dallas and, currently, Chicago. Along the way I have covered all kinds of events, foreign and domestic for the evening news, the morning news and Nightline. Tragedies and triumphs. Tearjerkers and thigh-slappers. And many more wars than I cared to witness. I've been shot at on numerous occasions and once survived a plane crash. Alas, the cases of food poisonings are too numerous to list. I've interviewed presidents and dictators, saints and many sinners. I've covered popes and all manner of potentates. Candidates for dog catcher and president: McGovern, Wallace, Carter, Kennedy, Reagan, Bush and Kerry, the names go on and on. There have been courtrooms and prisons, orphanages and mental institutions, schools and terrorist training grounds. I have traveled the world -- on somebody else's dime. I've visited every great state in the union and all of the continents save Australia and Antarctica. But my nine years in Israel were the best for me -- professionally and personally. I met and married my wife, Yael, an Israeli. And we now have four wonderful children ages 13 to 7. Retirement? Hell, I'm just getting started. |

March 7,2016 I can't believe I'm going to try to write a synopsis of the last 50 years of my life, but here are the highlights! Chose nursing as my lifework. Received BSN from University of Evansville in Indiana, first job as OR nurse at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia. Went back to school at GWU, became nurse-anesthetist, with MS from Virginia Tech. Worked in private practice for plastic surgeon in McLean, Va. for 26 years! Wonderful job-unlike hospital positions - no weekends, no holidays, no nights. Married my wonderful husband of almost 35 years, Al, in 1981. We have two wonderful daughters, both live in northern Virginia. We have one darling granddaughter, Camryn, who will be 2 years old on May 14th. Uh, Oh! I see conflict. Hope I'm not late for the reunion. Retired in April, 2014 and just loving it. Just returned from 6 weeks in Naples, FL and a Caribbean cruise. Both my parents ages 93 and 95 are living independently in our home in Naples. I am blessed. Looking forward to seeing everyone in May!! |

Comment: From 2006: I attended Radford College and University of South Florida. I pledged Kappa Delta at USF when most of the students were attending sit-ins (although I admit I attended a couple myself). I came back home after graduating, where I have been ever since. My last full time job was working as a paralegal at Baker and Hostetler in Washington. We have lived in our bungalow in Brookdale, a section of Bethesda, for 23 years. This is a neighborhood west of Friendship Heights (you may remember this area as Wisconsin Circle where the Chevy Chase Woodies was located) and bordering the District line. My husband, Jerry, is an attorney with Skadden, Arps and a longtime marathoner. I went from being a rabid feminist (as newly-weds one night when my husband was commuting home he called to ask me if I would turn on the oven for him, I retorted that we weren't going to have that type of marriage) to a housewife and soccer mom. During the last two decades, I've raised my two boys (Nick, senior, Tulane, Civil Engineering, and Thomas, freshman, Washington University in St. Louis, Business), overseen several major remodeling projects, volunteered in innumerable school/community functions, held part-time jobs in editing and environmental areas and attended classes. I have of late enjoyed gardening and have become a "Weed Warrior" with Montgomery County, so I'm spending a lot of time trying to improve parks.. We have enjoyed wonderful vacations to HW, Canada, Costa Rica, England, western and southern US. I'm nearing completion of my certificate in Natural History Field Studies from the USDA Graduate Studies. Originating during those languid summers in 1950/60s Bethany Beach, DE, and continuing when tubing down clear spring-fed rivers in 1960s Florida, I have come to enjoy all aspects of the outdoors including here in the Washington area. WJ still maintains the same fine reputation that it had when we were students as does our rival in those days, B-CC, my kids' alma mater. |
