Classmates

The most important part of this effort is to reconnect with friends in the great class of 1966. As Baby Boomers, think about what we’ve experienced, from learning cursive with cartridge pens to posting Instagram images with our smart phones; from learning about JFK’s assassination during the school day to watching the Twin Towers fall on 9/11; and for many of us, going from worrying about prom dates to welcoming grandchildren into our lives. It’s an amazing time to be living! Let’s celebrate and share.

Comment: We are sad to report that Mike passed away on Dec. 10, 2019. Please see the "In Memoriam" section for an obituary and a place to add tributes.

My career was actually shaped by my WJ years. Exposure to printing in Coach Miller’s Print Shop led to a lifelong career. With printing related degrees from Rochester Institute of Technology and Temple I had the opportunity to enjoy a rewarding career in this industry with assignments in the East and the Midwest. In the late 80’s I started my own company. Burrows Consulting, now 22 years old, helps other firms offer publishing services in the government market.

While in Rochester I met and married my wonderful wife, Michele. In our 44 years together we (OK mostly Michele) raised two delightful daughters. Older daughter, Tricia, is a prosecutor in a nearby county, and mother of our first two grandchildren. Katherine, our younger daughter, is director of a childcare center and an urban pioneer enjoying the renaissance in Silver Spring.

Michele “retired” from MCPS last year after a 44 year teaching career. She now uses her teaching talents educating students who are home or hospital bound. Her success with these youngsters now has her teaching more hours than before retiring from the classroom. Lest she have any down time she also teaches water aerobics.

We have lived in Silver Spring since retuning from the Midwest in 1988. We enjoy our daughters and our grandchildren, seeing them frequently.

Comment: From the 40th reunion:

I went to MJC for one year and decided that was not for me.  My parents owned a Business Machine store which I had worked in for more than a few times until closing it in 1999.  I got married in 1969 and had two children, Cory Mathew in March 1970 and Christopher George in June 1971.  My husband left me after the birth of our second son and was back on my doorstep six months later.  It wasn't meant to be so we split and he has since been married three more times.

Money, as I never understood, doesn't grow on trees so I worked for quite a few years in the micrographic field supervising the filming of all the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology cases as well as Senate and House documents.  I met my second husband thru a CB radio club which I used driving down Canal Road to Arlington, VA to a job also in Micrographics and had a third child, Justin Wayne in 1979.  Married Terry in 1984 and had a fourth child, Ashley Elizabeth.   Worked in Bethesda for Congressional Information Services as Supervisor in the Data Input Dept.  I suffered a TIA (stroke) due to a chiropractor manipulating my neck incorrectly and decided to become a stay-at-home Mom.

We lived for a short time in Athens, Texas but due to a failed land deal we came back to Maryland to "take care of business".  We have two and one-half grandchildren (expected in December) and a step-grandchild.  My husband fondly refers to me as "Bitch", most everyone else calls me Weezie.  All in all it has been a good ride.

Comment: After graduation I worked at NIH for several years. Met and marred Bob S. We had a son Bobby (currently a financial advisor, married with 3 children).  In 1980 we moved to Florida to enjoy the weather. We built a business and subsequently divorced after 19 years.

I went to the University of South Florida and earned a Business Administration Degree in 1994. I ran several companies after that; subsequently became a financial advisor.

Met Jay Campbell at a country western dance class. We became friends and were married 01/01/2000.

During my journey I discovered I loved teaching children with learning disabilities. I obtained my teaching certificate and spent several years enjoying teaching.

In December 2007 I became ill. After a year I was unable to work anymore. Subsequently diagnosed with several illnesses including fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, small fiber neuropathy (all cause crippling pain)and numerous lung diseases (although I never smoked or was around smokers). I spent several years trying to get well with the support of my wonderful husband as well as many other supporters (thank you Jackie). Currently we have found treatments, medications and therapies that help me function on a daily basis.

We are so grateful for how well I am doing. Every day is a blessing. Not how I would have chosen to spend my life, but made the best of the situation.

Love reading about classmates and friends who travel and are enjoying life.
